Katarína Beňová
She graduated from the Department of History of Visual Arts at the Faculty of Philosophy at Comenius University in Bratislava (1995-2001), where she successfully defended her dissertation about Portrait Art in Bratislava in 1815-1848.
Since 2000 she has been working as the curator of the Collection of the 19th Century Art at the Slovak National Gallery and since 2012 she has also been working as an assistant professor at the Department of History of Visual Arts. She primarily concentrates on art from the first half of the 19th century in Central Europe and from the turn of the centuries.
She prepared such exhibitions as Mednyánszky (1852-1919) in 2003 (Budapest) and 2004 (Bratislava), Alojz Stróbl (2006 Bratislava, Liptovský Mikuláš), Ján Rombauer (2010-2011 Bratislava, Prešov), Baroness Margita Czóbel (2012 Bratislava, Strážky) and many others.
Her work is published in the SNG Yearbook, magazines ARS, Cultural Heritage Review, Acta Musaei Scepusiensis, Bratislava and others. She attends colloquia at home and abroad.
