Prologue. 12 Colours of Reality Prologue. 12 Colours of Reality Bratislava
11. dec 2022 — 31. dec 2023
Exhibition lasted 385 days

We are proud to invite you to the reconstructed Slovak National Gallery! To guide you through the
new premises, we have prepared 12 unique exhibition experiences. You will have the opportunity to view works of old masters, modern art, and contemporary art in various, often surprising, interplays of relationships and dialogues. In an unconventional combination of works from different periods, we have taken a retrospective of the gallery's acquisitions over the past 30 years and showcased SNG collections in all their diversity. The magnitude of the installations will also give you a sense of the upcoming permanent exhibitions that will gradually be introduced from 2023.

Take (p)art! Take (p)art! Bratislava
11. dec 2022 — 14. may 2023
Exhibition lasted 154 days

Does art always have to be beautiful? And do I have to understand it? Male or female artist? Does it matter? Can I become part of the artwork? Am I allowed to laugh in a gallery? And why even bother to go there when everything is online already? Do works of art need titles? Is just an idea enough for it to become a piece of art? Even I could do it!

Lost and Found. Expedition to the Past and Future of Schaubmar Mill Lost and Found. Expedition to the Past and Future of Schaubmar Mill Pezinok-Cajla
5. nov 2022 — 30. apr 2023
Exhibition lasted 176 days

The exhibition Lost and Found is an oddity in the Schabmar Mill′s portfolio of titles since its main research and presentation object is the mill itself, its history, presence, and future, too. The exhibition is a jigsaw of fragments put together with the help of eyewitnesses, relatives, neighbours, historians, designers, architects, photographers...

Heterotopia. Recollections of the SNG's Bridge in a digital installation Heterotopia. Recollections of the SNG's Bridge in a digital installation
15. sep 2022 — 4. dec 2022
Exhibition lasted 80 days

Before we open the new site of the Slovak National Gallery, we decided to look at the memories of the Bridge - probably the most prominent and most debated part of the gallery complex. The digital installation Heterotopia gives the Bridge a voice. It speaks of itself, the world around it, and what it heard about itself from others; how it was shaped by the vision of its architect and the history and aura of its location. Everything that left its mark on the Bridge over the years will be revealed to those looking at it or walking through it.

Antimuseum of J.K. Antimuseum of J.K. Bratislava
15. sep 2022 — 4. dec 2022

Thanks to a comprehensive monographic exposition of Július Koller you will get to know the personality and work of one of our most famous conceptual artists, whose name has been resounding abroad as well. The exposition has come into being by moving the private collection of Koller′s works from the Antimuseum of J.K. residing on Zámočnícka Street in Bratislava to the premises of the Slovak National Gallery. Now, the best from the original museum, together with exhibits, will find its home in three rooms of the 1st floor of the Esterhazy Palace under the original name Antimuseum of J.K. The new installation will be completed by author′s works from the SNG Fund.

Working with the SNG collections offers many opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration. With the help of my colleague Marek Gilányi, the exhibited silver mirror unveiled to us the history of its origin. Thanks to ongoing research with my colleague Jana Luková, we are discovering more about its original owner and the circumstances of its acquisition into the SNG collections.

In the Shop Display: Tomáš Šoltys In the Shop Display: Tomáš Šoltys Bratislava
11. apr 2022 — 19. jun 2022
Exhibition lasted 69 days

At a time when SNG was still chasing novelties and even risked acquiring a diploma project of a promising graduate, a performance Man on the River (2011) by Tomáš Šoltýs (1985) was created. The image of the man, the artist himself, who, as Christ walked, "flowed" on the waves of the Danube, had a nature of an endurance exercise - it was a demanding, life-investing performance. It got noticed not only by the cultural audiences but also by the city's security forces.
