This time we did not focus on Ľudovít Fulla and his work in our cycle Viac Fullu / More of Fulla. Instead, this exhibition maps and interprets the qualities and interesting facts about this exceptional structure from the 1960s which was the first specially designed and constructed gallery building in Slovakia.
In 2012, the Ľudovít Fulla Gallery was the first museum to be declared a national cultural monument. Its daring architectural concept as well as several interior solutions and details are noteworthy.
However, students from the studio of Jana Hojstričová and Juraj Blaško of the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava focused on several aspects. During their brief stay in Ružomberok they also tried to capture the genius loci of the place where Ľudovít Fulla lived and worked. They looked for and captured traces of the artist in the interior and private spaces, the furniture and decorative and personal objects which were an everyday part of his life. The uncompromising lenses of the young artists' cameras, unburdened by sentiment projected a sober view of the current qualities of the spaces designated for exhibitions of the master's works and for preserving his artistic legacy.
This exhibition, which was tailor-made for the gallery, features the results of the students' stay in the form of interventions throughout the gallery and in the gallery magazine which includes a selection of photographs as well as contemplations of the students themselves.
