Within the Year of the Eucharist, the Slovak National Gallery is preparing an exhibition at the Ľudovít Fulla Gallery in Ružomberok, highlighting the motifs of Christ’s suffering portrayed in art from the 15th – 20th centuries.
The aim of this small exhibition from the collection of the Slovak National Gallery, which also includes other artefacts, is to trace the transformations of iconography in relation to the cultural, historical or liturgical context of a particular work of art. Man of Sorrow, Piet`a, visitors, chalice are merely some of the motifs or themes, which the audience can compare with contemporary religious environment or with their own experience.
