Rudolf Sikora is one of the most substantial Slovak artists of the second half of 20th century. He is a representative of a singular, cosmic - or cosmological - version of conceptualism, which is one of the most original accomplishments of Slovak art of the period.

During his whole artistic journey he was coming up with certain visual metaphores which constituted parallels to fundamental cosmological questions; his main theme was nothing smaller than the relation of human beings to not only their own planet, but to all the universe. According to Jiří Valoch, he was „the first Czechoslovak artist who unambiguously and continuously warned people against the danger the people generate for themselves". The main theme of the artist is highlighted in the retrospective show of his artwork as well. It is a modification of Sikora´s exhibition in the National Gallery in Prague (2006) which shall, in a unique way of organisation, take place in two exhibition spaces - The Esterházy's Palace of the SNG and the Main Hall of the House of Culture in Bratislava.
