Digital Gallery

The Slovak National Gallery implements the Digital Gallery Project from June 2011 until November 2015, as part of the national project of the Operational Programme Informatisation of Society, Priority Axis 2 “Development and Renewal of the National Repository Infrastructure,” which is co-funded by the European Regional Development Fund.

Main aims of the Project:

  1. Building a specialized workplace for fine art digitizing (including a unique restoration studio)
  2. Extension of the information system for the administration of the gallery collections (ISG-CEDVU)
  3. Digitizing of a substantial part of the collections of the Slovak galleries

Digital Gallery in Numbers:

Budget – 13 976 008, - EUR

1 renovated building in the areal of the Zvolen Castle
1 fumigation (sterilization) chamber for treatment of artworks
3 specialized large size scanners
1 state-of-the-art Hasselblad camera with equipment
1 new server with data storage
1 van with specially modified rear area for the transport of artworks
5 files for every artwork
8 digitizing teams
12 new jobs
100100 digitized artworks
18 involved galleries out of 26 Slovak galleries
1 new web of art – Web umenia

On the basis of cooperation with Jana Németh, selected digital reproductions are also presented in the "Artwork of the Day" column in Dennik N.
