Hackathon SNG

The idea for the Hackathon came from one simple premise: SNG preserves and exhibits artworks not only in their material but also their digital form. Our digital collections are gradually accessible to the public and we want to make room for people who will creatively use them and help us to further develop our digital services.

SNG Hackathon was one of the first events where programmers met with graphic designers, sound masters and other creative artists to design and create a project over two days using our data.

The task was to create an audio guide for the Non-Permanent Exposition or to improve on the date from the Web of Art or to analyse digital colour palette of painter Bazovský. Source codes, digital reproductions, metadata about art works, lots of coffee and the accompanying program that was supposed to inspire the implementation of the proposed and individual project were all available.

The participants worked in teams and the best projects were evaluated by the jury and then awarded prizes.
