My mother Marta turned her love for books into the now legendary bookshop Ex Libris. For many years it had its place on Michalská Street, later it moved few streets over. My mother always chose the books according to her taste and not commercial success. People liked to come around not only for books but also for debate and advice. New friendships or working relationships were created here and people liked to leave messaged in our so-called dead drop.
Nowadays, I run the bookshop and we settled in the premises of Esterházy Palace in the Slovak National Gallery. Ex Libris Bookshop was given a new character. We offer publications about art and culture, but also quality children's literature and original Slovak literature. In addition to expert artistic titles, we also offer catalogues of the SNG exhibitions, which you won't find anywhere else and graphic illustration of contemporary artists and artist's books.
We always chose books according to our tastes and we are slowly begging to become the place of meetings, debates and messages. Ex Libris in the SNG is a place where you can pleasantly spend your time.
