Between Idyll and Drama
Naïve art or "outsider art" is frequently presented as a particular phenomenon independent of the professional fine art scene. However, this exhibition approaches "naïve art" as an integral stage of development of modern and contemporary art. It presents the gradual building of the collection in confrontation with period professional art in order to accentuate the close connection between these two areas.
Within the framework of individual thematic circles, the exhibition presents various positions of non-professional fine art expression which range from folk art, through naïve painting, up to dramatic visions related to extreme psychological states.
